Tottenham’s Antonio Conte ranked in list of world’s best, including Jurgen Klopp – Mirror Online

Tottenham fans are understandably delighted at the fact Antonio Conte has been appointed manager following Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking yesterday.

The Italian boasts a record that includes four Serie A titles from stints at Juventus and Inter Milan and a Premier League winners’ medal with Chelsea, with a track record of almost immediately improving the results of teams he takes over.

Yet the Premier League has moved on from the Italian’s first stint in England, with Pep Guardiola’s Man City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool both undeniably stronger teams, and Conte’s former club Chelsea looking a force to be reckoned with under Thomas Tuchel after last season’s shock Champions League victory.

According to a new poll, that leaves Conte with something to prove on his return to the Premier League.

The 52-year-old currently sits in sixth place in a Mirror poll asking which coach is the best in the world, gaining just 1.4% of the vote.

That puts Conte above the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Julien Nagelsmann, Marco Rose and Imanol Alguacil, but he trails the rest of the world’s leading managers by a huge margin.

Perhaps Conte’s brief period out the game since leaving Inter has put him at a disadvantage compared to other coaches, but Zinedine Zidane, who has been out of the game for a similar period since leaving Real Madrid, ranks as the fourth-best coach on the list with 4.6% of the vote.

Sandwiched in between Conte and Zidane is Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, with 3.1% of fans naming him the world’s best coach after he led his side to the La Liga title last season.

There currently is a large gap between the top three and the chasing pack, with Guardiola in third place with 18% of the vote.

Tuchel’s Champions League win last season currently sees him pip Guardiola into second, with 18.1% of fans naming him the best coach in the world.

Way out in front, however, is Klopp, with over 50% of fans voting for him when it comes to the world’s best manager.

It means that Conte may have to make an immediate impact at Spurs if he is to change some fans’ opinions on who is currently the best coach in the world.
